One of Chicagoist's first fans, Chris, tipped us off that today is the last day to see the movie The Saddest Music in the World at the Music Box Theater. Chicagoist has not seen this movie yet, but Chris and everyone else is saying it is great - funny and sad and completely unpredictable. If we didn't already have plans for tonight we'd be there.

Stroger Makes Hollywood Play

Good news! According to the movie schedule in this week's Reader, the movie is NOT leaving town after tonight, but will be around at least through the next week. So we all have at least one more week to go catch it.
oh, cool! i hope the reader is right!
It usually is.
In addition to that, the Music Box advertisement in the Reader lists the movie as still playing. So there you go.
saw/listened to the 'saddest music in the world' last week, and i nearly walked out of the musicbox. lots of people rave about guy madden's work, but i am not one of them.
there is plenty of humor to draw from, but the sheer arbitrariness of the dialogue undercut what could have been a good film.
M- 'are you an american?'
W- 'no, i'm a nymphomaniac'
on the bright side, i had never been to the musicbox before, and definately cant wait to see another film there. the theater ambiance is unmatched anywhere else.
cheers
