Chicago Murder Rate Plunges

Chicago Murder Rate PlungesGood news! The number of murders in Chicago has dropped 29% in the first four months of 2004 compared with the same time period in 2003. Credit for this plunge has been attributed to the operation that led to the arrest of hordes of members of two Chicago street gangs last week. Also, the Police Department announced on Saturday that 90 police officers who are normally assigned to desk duty would be reassigned to do street patrol in various communities. Chicagoist would like to take a moment to thank our brave police officers and to hope that this means that some place else will be crowned the title of Murder Capital this year!
