Eat, Knit, and Be Merry

2004.05.26.knit.jpgKnitting is the new smoking: it's cool, artsy, gives you something to do with your hands, and goes extremely well with coffee, alcohol, and sex. Get your knit on tonight with the Kelly Girls, a knitting crew of young Chicagoans who gather on Wednesday nights "To drink tasty caffeinated beverages, to chat about life and work, to help each other with craft projects, to learn new skills, and generally to have a good time." All levels are welcome, and boys are too: Kelly Girl Services was the first temp agency, so the knitting group picked up the name as "an ironic tribute," not as a way to exclude knitty menfolk.
The KGs meet at Cosmicafe on 1944 West Montrose. Need more knitting in your life? Check out the Windy City Knitting Guild.
