Say Goodbye to Bank One

Chicagoist is wishing we were in the signage business right about now. Once its merger with JP Morgan Chase is complete, the Bank One name will disappear from the Chicago banking landscape, as well as nationwide. Bank One is the largest bank in the area in terms of branch locations, so there are a going to be a lot of signs to replace.

And signs aren't the only re-naming issue. The Bank One Plaza in the Loop will become One Chase Plaza -- no word on whether they'll make the building that currently resembles a giant "1" look like a giant "C." Bank One Ballpark in Arizona is also going to need a name change, too -- which means we can no longer refer to it as "The BOB." Over $100 million was spent to build Bank One's brand name, all wiped out when the name fades away.
