As Chicagoist predicted, the Bulls' draft had its surprises. Wednesday night, the Bulls acquired the Phoenix Suns' 7th pick in return for a second round pick (31st), a future first round pick and cash.

During tonight's draft, the Bulls started by selecting Ben Gordon (Guard - UConn) with the 3rd pick.

With the 7th pick, the Bulls selected Loul Deng (Forward - Duke). Earlier this week, speculation was that the Bulls would pick Deng with the 3rd pick, so the draft took a fortuitous turn in the Bulls favor that allowed them to get him at the seven slot.

With their remaining second round pick (38th) the Bulls selected point guard Chris Duhon -- another Duke product.

Chicagoist loves the Bulls' draft picks. Granted, Chicagoist is a biased Duke fan. But all three players are fundamentally sound, hard workers who should be ready to contribute this season. Which is good because frankly, we're tired of waiting for all the young 'uns to develop. Definitely a grade A draft!
