Ann Sather is pairing up with Mama Mia! to transform its Wicker Park location into a disco to celebrate ABBA's music during its monthly ABBA Brunch on Sunday, July 4 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. ABBA Brunch features funky lights, a disco ball, ABBA music as well as music from the soundtrack of Mama Mia, giveaways and an "ABBA Special" on the breakfast menu. Brunch goers will also have the chance to register to win a pair of tickets to a Mama Mia, which is returning to
Chicago in the fall, during each brunch from now until November.
Chicagoist thinks that disco balls, ABBA, and crazy lights may be a little much for us during our morning brunch - we're more the type to sit down in a quiet spot with a cup of coffee and a book - but if ABBA Brunch sounds like your thing, head over to Ann Sather on Sunday.
And if ABBA for brunch just isn't enough Swedish disco for you, ABBA: The Music will be at Ravinia Tuesday, July 6. The show is sold out, so Chicagoist recommends trying Craigslist or other alternate sources for tickets.

It's nice to see Ann Sather get into the spirit, though I'm not sure I could eat my cinnamon rolls under a disco ball to the strains of "Winner Takes It All". Why not the Hives, or The Cardigans? I understand that the point is to promote the show, so why not expand this into a larger program? Broadway in Chicago tells me that "The King and I" is coming soon, so why not traditional dancing and elephants at Star of Siam, or tango dancing and "Dress As Your Favorite Dictator" night at Tango Sur on Southport when "Evita" rolls into town? I'm just glad that "Urinetown" has already rolled through -- I can't imagine how *that* would work.
