Pedicabs Coming to Chinatown

2004_07_pedicab.jpgStarting Tuesday you won't have to go to China to get a ride on rickshaw - just head over to Chinatown and get a ride on a bike-powered rickshaw, a pedicab. "Pedicabs, or rickshaws, have long been connected with the Chinese culture," said Jimmy Lee, the executive director of the Chinatown Chamber of Commerce. The Chamber is introducing the pedicabs as part of its “Summer Fun in Chinatown” campaign. Lee says he got the idea to bring pedicabs to Chinatown while watching an episode of The Aprentice.

ABC is reporting that pedicabs will be free at first (don't forget to tip!), while chicagobusiness.com and the Trib say that a tour of Chinatown will cost $3 to $4 and a ride through Ping Tom Park will cost $1. Either way it's pretty cheap and a great alternative way to see Chinatown.
