Wrigley Field Is Crumbling

Like the Cubs chances of winning their division, Wrigley Field seems to be crumbling. A number of reports of falling concrete have Chicago's Building Dept. calling for Wrigley safety check. The city wants a "100 percent hands-on inspection" of the park's upper deck and mezzanine levels within the next 30 days.

Similar to a June 9th event, Plainfield fan Jeff Reach said a chunk of concrete about 6 inches by 3 inches fell, nearly hitting his 5-year-old son following Friday's Cubs game.

"I thought somebody threw something at us -- a loaded beer can maybe. It was startling. It landed with a thud and scared us all," Reach said.

Zachary Reach, 5, said he was startled, but didn't shed a tear when the scare occurred as he and his parents were filing out of Wrigley after Friday's Cubs-Brewers game.

"I was a big boy," Zachary said. "I was playing with my tractor and this rock fell in the baseball game. It came down really fast. It almost broke my head."
