Pilobolus Dance Coming to the Chicago Theater

Pilobolus Dance TheaterAfter several years absence, the Pilobolus Dance Theater be will returning to Chicago in the fall and will perform at the Chicago Theatre. The dance typically involves gymnastics, group "structures", and overt and implied humor. Whenever we've seen photographs of Pilobolus we've though of beauty and strength.. and not .. uh.. Primus, Radiohead, and Squarepusher. But for its premiere performances on October 8 & 9, Pilobolus will perform an endurance test set to this music. The dance is called "Megawatt," and is to suggest our "high voltage" world. Ok.. we can see it.. it sounds interesting.

Also on the program are 3 other performances. "Night of the Dark Moon" is a reinterpretation of the Orpheus myth and devised as a love triangle, it is seen from the view of Orpheus' wife. "Brass Ring" is a dance set to nostalgic American music.. everything from ragtime to Copland. Finally, "Symbiosis" is a male-female duet with Darwinian undertones.

Tickets are anywhere from $15 - $59 and are available on Ticketmaster.
