It's illegal to import drugs, right?

Happy Pills - Graphic: PillDeals.comSomeone should tell that to Gov. Blagojevich who is going ahead with a plan to let IL residents buy prescription drugs from Ireland, Canada and the U.K. Prescription drugs are cheaper in other countries because of government price controls and the Gov. plans to help us to cash in on that by creating a state website where meds can be ordered. Sounds great to us but the government is against it because of concerns about the safety of the medications.

Blagojevich says the program will be up and running in a month and that we'll be able to refill prescriptions online with a savings of 25 - 50%. But not without a fight. The FDA is on record saying that state-sponsored programs to buy foreign drugs are straight-up illegal but so far has not gone to court to stop it.

Here's a good question. If you, as an IL resident, buy drugs from Canada via a state-sponsored program, could you face federal charges?

And speaking of drug websites, Chicagoist can't get over the graphics on this site. When was the last time depression looked like that? And in case you didn't know how you got that nasty case of herpes, here's a graphic to show you!
