Airshow Jumps Dumped

Yesterday's high winds caused a bit of an incident at yesterday's Air & Water show.

Picnickers and sunbathers on the softball fields at the south end of Lincoln Park got a little closer to the action than they bargained for as the lead jumper for the U.S. Army Golden Knights Parachute Team landed among them rather than the designated landing point on North Ave. Beach. Chicagoist, watching from our rooftop, thought he looked a little off course at the time and a neighbor's radio confirmed that suspicion. As a result, the remaining jumps were cancelled as a safety precaution. Chicagoist wants to know whether any of the picknickers at least offered the poor guy a hot dog and a beer after he dropped in.
