Oberweis is Expanding?

A couple months ago Chicagoist pulled up to Oberweis on Fullerton with a mongo ice cream crave and we were horrified to find that it was completely shut down. And no matter where we looked or who we asked no one knew why. The one and only store in Chicago was gone.

Yesterday we read that Oberweis is expanding. And not just a little bit. They're opening 500 stores in 7 states. 500! But the real question is will they be showin their love to Chicago? Does anyone know why the Fullerton store closed? And has anyone heard if the city will be getting at least one of these new 500 stores? What's the dilly!?
