Hamm to Help Nomar Choose

When Nomar Garciaparra -- picked up by the Cubs from Boston on July 31st -- decides where to play next season, wife Mia Hamm is going to have a big say in the decision. On Monday, the gold medal-winning soccer star said

One of the things that we talked about is that we get to make [the decision] together. His reception since he has been here has been tremendous. You go from a great baseball town of Boston... I don't think he could have picked a better one to come to and be a part of. So it definitely makes the decision even harder.

2004_09_sports_mia_nomar.jpgHamm made these comments while promoting the U.S. national team's "Fan Celebration Tour" which will play Ireland on October 20th at Soldier Field.

Since returning from Athens, Hamm has been spending time in Chicago with Nomar -- attending Cubs games and enjoying the city. She's hanging up her soccer cleats following this fall's exhibition tour, so wherever Nomar ends up Mia will, too. So if you see her out and about, Chicagoist suggests helping convince her to talk Nomar into staying in Chicago with the Cubs... or the White Sox.
