Six Flags Adds Water

Chicago Tribune
Chicagoist questions the idea of Six Flags announcing their new Hurricane Harbor water park on Thursday, as Hurricane Ivan tears apart the Gulf Coast.

The new park will be built this winter in Gurnee, on 13 acres of land ajoining Six Flags' Great America. Features of the park will include include slides, raft rides and a wave pool. There will also be a two-acre play area with 17 towers interconnected with slides, bridges, chutes and ladders that would be "the world's largest interactive water play structure."

Having broken ground this week, a May debut is planned for the new Hurricane Harbor water park. It may not be the only water park in Gurnee, however, as "Famous" Dave is also planning a water park.
