Chicago-based Evangelical Lutheran Church in America today released a study reaffirming, among other things, the church's stance prohibiting ordination of gay and lesbian ministers. The study stopped short of advocating crucifixion of homosexuals, instead recommending its 5 million members find "ways to live together faithfully in the midst of disagreements."
The Pioneer Press (MN) says the "diverse" task force included a "school principal, surgeon and farmer as well as bishops, pastors and professors." It's unclear whether any gay or lesbian Church members were allowed to voice their concerns.
The recommendations, available for download on the Church's website, will be voted on by the a Churchwide Assembly later this year.
Thanks, Aaron
