The Political Underbrush of Village Elections

free_betty.jpgWe were going to ignore the upcoming suburban village elections, but then Chicagoist saw one of these shirts from a couple of years ago -- Free Betty Loren-Maltese, the jailed former town president of Cicero, Illinois. Oh yeah, village elections can be fun!

As you probably know, Chicagoist loves Cicero, and this year's village elections are already quite the hoot! The new town president, Ramiro Gonzalez, has done his best to make sure he runs the town by appointing five people to city positions, and by knocking off the ballot any challengers to his office or that of his allies.

And hey, if anyone knows where you can get one of those Free Betty shirts, let us know. We want one!
