Delivery and Carryout: The Soup Box - Lakeview

By Erin in Food on Feb 1, 2005 9:10PM

Last week's call for favorite delivery and carryout spots elicited several responses, which we'll list this week.

2005_02_soupbox.jpg Chicagoist's own Aaron Bailey offers up "The Soup Box," 2943 North Broadway, as a carryout favorite.

"The chicken and wild rice is amazingly good ..."

The Soup Box features a daily revolving roster of 12 fresh soups, prepared off-site and cooked in the store each morning. Aaron notes that the store itself is pretty small, "... with enough space for the
'cauldrons' of soup, a few tables and that's it. Most of their business is take-out."

The Web site notes a two-soup minimum, with a $2 delivery charge. The soups are available in three sizes: a 12-oz. containter for $4.50, a 16-oz. container for $5.50 and a bread bowl option -- a 16-oz. soup served with a hollowed out 12-oz. loaf with a free can of pop for $6.25. All soups come with bread.

The Soup Box, 2943 North Broadway, is open 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily. Delivery begins at 11 a.m. until 8:30 p.m. "or so," says the Web site.
