Lyric Opera Tenor Found Dead

And here we thought Chicago’s murder rate was dropping.

Add Richard Markley, a member of the Lyric Opera chorus, to the sad string of recent and still purportedly unrelated murders in the Belmont area on the North Side. Markley was apparently stabbed to death in his Lincoln Square apartment sometime over the weekend. His Lyric coworkers, alarmed when Markley didn’t show up for a weekend performance of Tosca, discovered his body on Sunday.

Markley had performed with Lyric on and off since 1990.
