The besto mojito in the city by far is Cuatro's. they muddle key limes, which add a smoother and more nuanced flavor, sugarcane juice instead of granulated sugar and 10cane, one of the finest rums available. and the food is awesome to boot!

Many thanks for the compliment, I appreciate it very much. And, yes, I'd love for people to send in drink questions...the more interesting, the better!

So tyhe mojito craze finally wound its way north to Chicago, eh? It hit Dallas hard last summer, and I'm still recovering. The problem with mojitos — and I have learned this from grim experience — is that the ridiculous sugar content engenders the most exquisite hangovers this side of pure grain alcohol.

This year in the deep southwest, everyone's apeshit about the mint julip. The effin' mint julip! I have not the words. Wait. Yes I have.

you can get a good Caipirinha at Cafe Laguardia, 2111 W. Armitage. it's cuban, but they do some great drinks & used to have a brazillian band on the last wednesday of the month, for "samba" night.

You know, I am not a huge fan of the Caipirinha, but maybe I haven't had a good one? Where can I get a good one?

I, too, have had the mojito at Cafe 28. Loved it. Loved it. Loved it. Benjy, just let me know when I should be at your place for the mojito making!

A good mojito is suprisingly hard to locate in this city, at least according to my research. Cafe 28 has the best ones I've had. The other place that has good ones? Suprisingly, it's Grand Lux Cafe.

Of course, that all changes once the mint plant I bought at the Flower & Garden Show grows big enough to make enough mojitos to go around...

Mojito, yes, but Caipirinha, YESSSS!
Caipirinha basic recipe.

I was introduced to these a couple of years ago at Cafe 28. They make a good one at Sal & Carvao. Should definitely be on your summertime drink list.

Plus, they are fun to pronounce, you have to roll your tongue.
