on the one hand - I think that most gold-coasters will think twice before not leashing their dogs in fear of being maced. on the other hand - what a waste of our tax dollars going to some police cop instructed to write tickets to rich people for not leashing their dogs - give me a brake - now we have to pay for a law suit certainly pending by yuppie maced guy against the city. pretty soon - you will have to take a bond out from the city in order to own a dog to pay for such stupid "doggie cop" business the city of Chicago believes will help the what? safety of the city?

Police can arrest you for refusing to show ID, but only when there's a law that says they can. Jen's link refers to a recent Supreme Court case involving a Nevada law authorizing state troopers to arrest motorists who don't show ID. I doubt Illinois has a law requiring dog owners to show ID under threat of getting hauled off to the hoosegow (but, you know, call your legislator).

Dear Yuppie Assholes: Just put your goddamn annoying yappy rats on a string and get over it. It's bad enough you don't pick up after the crap it leaves all over the neighborhoods, but now you're insisting how your micro-mutt must run free in the wilds of Washington Park otherwise it's some sort of a personal (and canine) civil freedoms violation? how is one policeman a lot of police presence in the area? vendela you should have just thrown a stick in her spokes or push her over. grow some balls or tits, or both. plus what you went through is not nearly as bad as the assholes who ride their bikes on the sidwalk.

It's interesting how much police presence there is in Washington Park to enforce the leash law but when I was running on the bike path and some gang-banger woman was riding her bike in the *running path* and intentionally tried to HIT me, not one single cop responded to my 911 call! Glad to know the Chicago PD has their priorities straight. It's very comforting!!

The man refused and, according to the Sun-Times, told the officer, ""You f------ fascists, you are not taking me." We don't understand why the man didn't just say "fucking" instead of "eff, hyphen, hyphen, hyphen, hyphen, hyphen, hyphen." Maybe it's the new hip jet set lingo. EL OH EL!!
