Now that the show has passed, Ted Leo was great both musically and as a frontman. I did not find him annoying at all. The last person that I truly found annoying was the frontman from The Dismemberment Plan, now that was annoying!

The Cells being too loud sounds like more of a critique of the venue's soundman than the band itself. Personally they're one of my favorite local live acts and the new line-up, only frontman Cory Hance remains from the band you saw in 2002, absolutely kills. I thought all four bands were pretty great last night actually...

Wow. First time I've heard that about The Cells. Although if it has been a few years then that'd make sense since they formed around 2002 and it would mean they were still getting it together onstage.

A word of warning to those going or thinking about going to the Rockit Girl show. The Cells are, without a doubt, the WORST opening act I've ever seen. Perhaps they've improved in the last few years, but I saw them open for Frank Black and the Catholics some years back at the Metro. They were deafeningly loud (so loud that I was too deaf to truly appreciate Frank Black) and had the most inane stage banter I've ever heard from a band.

ted leo's personality while playing really turned me off. i'm not sure i can explain it, just a feeling i got from the show. plenty of people like him and that's fine. i found him to be irritating.

yes, jen: how is Ted Leo irritating live? i saw him on his last pass through town, and am curious to hear what your impressions of his show have been. i loved it, and think his live show is great.
