Among the many problems with Cubs fans is that they tend to be pretty overreactionary about everything. Leading up to the 2nd Crosstown Classic series, I read several articles about how the Cubs made it a point not to care about the Sox as much as the Sox care about the Cubs. Okay, whatever.

But during the game on Saturday, you better belive that every Cubs fan in the park was on their feet, screaming their heads off like we were in the bottom of the ninth in Game 7 of the World Series. They clearly felt a pretty great sense of vindication after taking two of three last weekend from the best team in the Majors... even if doing so only put them two games over .500 for the season. But, again, whatever. I feel vindicated knowing that Greg Maddux is big tubby fat guy.

I'm a Sox fan, so watching the Cubs suffer is one of my life's great joys, and clearly I would have loved to swept them in this series. But c'mon. It's interleague play. The "Crosstown Classic" is a meaningless tourist trap with a baseball theme. The Cubs will not reappear in the post season, no matter how much public fellatio the local press is willing to offer Mark Prior and Kerry Wood.

The Cubs will need too many things to go right, and that ain't gonna happen. The Sox will make it as the division is not tough this year.
