While the words "thong" and "White House" mentioned together typically cause flashbacks to the Clinton presidency, the latest flap concerns the kind worn on your feet--flip-flops.

Northwestern Univeristy's women's lacrosse team was invited to the White House to meet President Bush following their NCAA championship.

Chicagoist admits to being metrosexual even before there was a term for it, so Chicagoist would dress up for a meeting with the Prez-- even if it is just W. and even if it is summer break. But about half of the girls chose to wear flip-flops to the White House. Maybe they should have spent a little more time planning the footwear portion of their outfits. Would it really have been so hard to put on something a little nicer? Sure, flip-flops have moved beyond just being $5 shower shoes but there's still a time and place when they might not be the right choice. Chicagoist can only hope they realize this before they start interviewing for their first real jobs. Afterall, there aren't many pro women's lacross jobs out there.
