It might be too much to ask you to switch away from The Simpsons or The Daily Show at 10pm, but DO IT ANYWAY. Chicagoist is going to be featured in a segment called "Entering the Blogosphere" on ABC7 tonight. The interviews were done a few weeks ago in the Loop and feature about 7 of us. The crew even visited a couple of our "real job" offices. It will be interesting to see how the story is spun and how it fits in with the rest of the segment.

I'm almost afraid to watch after looking at the show preview.
That segment preview basically made it seem like blogging is the new "What's This World Coming To?" device. My mom will be scared to death after watching it.
How come the media doesn't cover independent blogs? Chicagoist is part of a kind of franchise--the "ist" sites. It's more like an interactive online magazine rather than a blog where an individual is writing without any support.
rb - you know how the news has to be like "the sky is falling! Tune in at 10!" .. it's not how we were approached for the piece and it's not how we participated in it.. so that's why i said it'd be interesting to see how the spin goes.
mj - individual sites will be covered.. i know part of the segment is supposed to be in regard to student bloggers. we represent a chicago city blog.

I was amused by the woman who was all freaked out because people found out personal information about her. Especially since it was because she posted the info on her blog in the first place.
