Who is this "Normar" of which you speak?

Since Nomar was named backwards after his father Ramon, that means "Normar's" father is RamRon, which sounds like a porn star! :D

Zak's right -- I was simply referring to the fact that performing well athletically doesn't make one heroic in the true sense. Savings somebody's life does...

FlowFeel, I appreciate your praise for Nomar and agree with it whole heartedly. I pray he will be the Cubs starting shortstop on opening day 2006. However, I think Benjy was merely referencing the old Charles Barkley "I am not a role model" ads of the '90s. But I could be wrong...he is a southside loyalist...

Nomar not an onfield hero? Ok enough Sox bandwagoning for Chicagoist -its making you mental. Nomar is cut from a mold of on-field heros - he plays hard all the time, keeps up a humble appearence when things are great and rides things out w/ grace when they suck. He does what he is asked to do, even for an GM and manager that would be better off in the tribune offices deciding if the Redeye should be free or not. While Nomar's career is questionable right now, i would take him over some other cocky bum shortstops (Jeter, Tejada, etc.) Nomar come back to Chicago - for the league minimum!
