Cracker Unplugged at Martyr's

Cracker holds a special place in Chicagoist’s heart because at their show, we didn’t meet our college boyfriend. We probably should have because we both walk around with the same story about that night which proves we were right next to each other and should have met, but alas… Everyone has a story about the night they met. We have a story about the night we didn’t meet.

Cracker is a unique band that has the unfortunate place in history as not being Camper Van Beethoven anymore. Check out this chart by David Lowery which illustrates how schizophrenic Cracker’s music world really is and how it makes perfect sense for the band. It’s exactly like Alice’s chart on The L Word!

Cracker’s last album found them exploring their alter ego “Ironic Mullet” the country facet of the band’s sound. The band is currently working on new songs for a 2006 release. Expect tonight’s show at Martyr’s to feature a lot of their new work, as well as some of the old favorites. The New Messengers of Happiness open. Martyr’s, 10 pm, $15.
