Joel: People familiar with Andersonville know that Hans' glögg is ubiquitous with the neighborhood, so you can get it anywhere. I was relaying the story of how I became acquainted with the beverage, not slighting Simon's. But since you brought it up I always preferred Hopleaf over Simon's, anyway. Better beer selection and I had an eight-month stretch back in '95 where every time I'd walk in the jukebox would kick on.

I was in the Hopleaf last week and as I walked in I overheard Mike say, "yeah, when Hans dies, I'm gonna stop carrying that stuff ... it's awful." I thought this was funny because (a) "Hans' Andersonville Glogg" is bottled in another state, so I always figured it was mass produced and local labels were slapped on later and (b) I happen to like Hans' Glogg ... unlike alot of the spicy Gloggs with pinecones and shit in them, Hans' is basically a fortified cabernet! A Swedish Holiday Thunderbird if you will. Yum.
