WOMMA Raising $20,000 for Charity By Word of Mouth

So you've heard of the Chicago-based Word of Mouth Marketing Association (WOMMA), the official trade association for the word of mouth marketing industry, right? Cool concept, eh? Like to learn more?

2006_01_womma.jpgWOMMA is trying to raise $20,000 for charity by auctioning 20 passes (worth $1,000+ each) to their upcoming conference and 100% of their proceeds are going to charity. The event is called Word of Mouth Basic Training and is being held in Orlando on January 19 - 20, 2006. It's a 2-day event about learning the best ethical word of mouth marketing practices.

WOMMA says they're hoping to start a trend--that anyone doing a marketing conference should make charity part of the process. There are so many expensive events out there and they hope to put out the word that giving back should be part of the deal. Way to go! If those conference producers want our support, they need to return something to the community. So Chicagoist is helping WOMMA raise money by spreading the word about their conference.
