The library pass thing only gets you in the door. If you want to see any of the "special" exhibits, you have to pay out the ass. It's best to just become a member.

Might I recommend, to those complaining about museum fees, the Great Kids Museum Passport program. 11 museums, including the Shedd, all for the cost of walking over to the library.

Note to families with kids. If you see a tall guy by himself, actually LOOKING at the exhibits, keep your goddamned kids away from him. He doesn't like your little, noisy brats.

You have to become a member. It's like $80 or something like that, it's good for a whole year and usually includes all the exhibits and special shows. /Well worth it, even if you only go twice

I don't see how anyone can afford to go to the Shedd Aquarium. Not to mention that all the cool stuff costs extra to see even on the free days at the museums. That's on top of the ripoff parking fees. It just proves my personal belief that THEY only want rich republican kids to have a good education.

The Field Museum is a great museum, but for the last year or so, they've been remodeling, and most of the exhibits are closed. /I'd like to kick the ass of the fucker who set THAT deal up. What a jackass. It's as bad as the stupid Jewel at Clark/Division remodeling and moving their products around every few years so you can't find anything. Guess what? I don't shop at Jewel and I'm having a tough time justifying renewing my Field membership (although I will - the Field Museum is so cool.)

I think that the museums here are second to none, and soooooo accessible! I go when all the major exhibits come into town. It's too bad though we've let our children solder earpieces to their heads so they can talk to Chad and Trixie and we get them watching DVDs in the back of our SUVs and let them play PSPs in the resteurants, just to keep them quiet. Your "families" are raising blind mindless unthinking sheep (re: Republicans), but that's okay. I've got passes to most of the good museums, and I can go anytime, and the less noisy uninterested vapid-staring kids bumping around and wandering dully in the halls, the more art for me! Yippie! It's a win-win for me! Let me know the next time you're going, folks, and we'll all go to the Artist's Diner and look trendy as we buy extra triple-triple mocha decafs with extra brown sugar and cream together - but, please, no kids.

Damn, maybe they do need to add those moving cars on tracks that they have at Epcot like I suggested in comments to the Navy Pier post... are people really too lazy to walk through a museum these days?
