We’ve been talking about it for weeks now and it’s finally here. Tonight is our first ever Ctrl-Alt-Rock show and we’re as excited as a puppy you’ve brought home from the pet store (though we’ve managed to not pee on the floor…so far).
Three of our favorite bands will rock Schuba’s tonight: The Assembly, May Or May Not and Alphabet. To get you ready for tonight, we're posting a mix of tracks from each of the bands after the jump. Enjoy it and cross your fingers that our server doesn't crash.
We’ll be giving away lots of swag too. We’ve got CDs galore from the people at addVice and Fanscape, gift certificates from Neighborhoodies and Santullo’s, and Chicagoist t-shirts, which are guaranteed to make you look more attractive even after washing.
And since it wouldn’t be a Chicagoist event without a good amount of booze, we’re going to have a brief Happy Hour before the show. Doors open at 8:30 p.m. and there will be free beer available in the back room until our tab runs out. If past events are any indication, you’d be wise to get there early.
This event is about celebrating what’s great about Chicago music and giving something back to you, the reader. We’re looking forward to meeting all of you tonight and hope to get a chance to talk with you before we’re too drunk to form complete sentences. See you there!

what up with that? i've been seeing that everywhere (well, like three places since last weekend). now fat tire!! was it just unobtainable? was it like coors in the mid-80s?
Jocelyn--Fat Tire was pretty much unavailable anywhere east of the Mississippi until this month when they expanded their distribution territories.
Too bad Coors doesn't go back to being unattainable--it would go well with it's unpalatable state of being.
i realize we are all midwesterners, but for chrisakes dance a little bit. move your knees. the assembly was awesome, but no one even moved an inch. your mothers arent watching; dance you kids!
