The dude is trying to do something for chicago. he's stoked on chicago. i think that's great. also, the bands that are coming together will not be headlining Latin or Gospel fest anytime soon. I was hearing there are no festivals for his type of music. He definitly is putting something different together. I'm jealous St. Louis doesn't have something similiar. Also, this dude reviews music...he's even placing on that stage music that got bad reviews. That's kinda cool.

if you have to start a comment with "i'm sorry, but" it's probably not worth saying.

actually, you seem to embody the attitute that gets in the way of a good festival. and thirty bucks for a spectacularly billed weekend full of heavily touring bands that you would pay 15 bux to see a combo of any given three regularly is hardly capitalizing on the ignorance of the feeble minded masses. are you trying to be, like, some uber-ironic hipster by spurting out ostentations comments criticizing someone elses pretentiousness?

Chicagoist should have been on this festival tip already, no?

If you refer to the bulk of Scott's music posts last week and/or the weekly round up, you can see that we were, indeed, ON IT. Interviews just give us an opportunity for more in-depth coverage on a subject, dig?

At least this Chicagoist interview isn't as sophomorically over-written as Pitchfork is.

Well, back-handed compliments are still compliments, I guess.

You know, last year's Pitchfork Fest was a really good time despite all the hullabaloo leading up to it. There was very little sanctimonious attitude from either the people running it or the audience.

I'm sorry, but this guy reminds me of those musicians who'll tell you they're not making music for anyone but themselves -- but still try desperately to get signed to record labels with the hope of selling their music to (you guessed it) anyone but themselves.

"Until last year, there weren't that many music festivals happening in Chicago."

Wow, the Pitchfork kid is seriously high on his own fumes right now. There have been several music festivals in Chicago every year, and most will let you bring a chair and get in without paying to go to a city park for the day: Blues Fest, Jazz Fest, Gospel Fest, Latin Music Fest... the list goes on.

Chicagoist should have been on this festival tip already, no? Maybe we can do a little more homework than the "more-indie-than-thou" Ryan Schreiber did next time?

At least this Chicagoist interview isn't as sophomorically over-written as Pitchfork is. The whole sanctimonious Pitchfork attitude is going to get in the way of a good festival.
