Make it 10/gallon!!! I love ot hear dumb nascar fans bitch about having to pay too much. Instead of bitching think about alternatives... live not using any!!! We love to bitch in place of actually taking action. Looks like the American way of life will have to be compromised, ey Cheney

Well, it's definitely a mixed bag. One one hand, higher oil prices WILL lead to more progress on alternative energy sources, both in terms of refining generating capabilities and in setting up distribution.

On the other hand, while plenty of money is going to profiteers at the major oil refining/distribution companies, we're also putting massive revenues into the hands of people who are actively trying to undermine American values.

By that I mean Canada of course....

It reminds me of the good 'ol days when George the First put forth a congressional inquiry about price gouging at the pumps in the early 90s. Remember? Around the time of "Gulf War... The Phantom Menace"? Of course we were all up in arms back then because gasoline was an outragious $1.22; up from $1.01. Of course the oil companies were absolved of any wrong doing.
MY question is: Regarding the fact that there has been a trade embargo with Iraq since the first gulf war and no could've gave a fast flying fuck about Iran for the past twenty five years, why are we seeing a surge at the pumps? The answer is simple, people: The oil companies are playing on the fears that this administration has put forth on the general public since 9/11 and are going for record profits. And we are willing to bend over at the pump and take it like a prison bitch. You think Exxon hit it big when they announced around the first of the year that they reported $36 B-B-Billion plus in profits? Wait'll next year, suckers!
