The Golden Heart snack shop looks circa 1965 0r earlier. But I still miss Gertie's Candies (now an Oriental take-out), The Brighton theatre (now gone), Brighton Park Hobby & Craft shop (now Brighton flower shop), And many other places which made me feel warm & welcome in that area.

I appreciate you writing about places on the Southwest Side. Quite often the focus is on the North Side and its trendy neighborhoods. While I no longer live in Chicago, I was born and raised on the Southwest Side. There are some hidden gems in McKinley Park, Brighton Park, and Archer Heights. Keep up the exploring.
