I am all for that ban on the ice cream truck music. The ice cream trucks in my neighborhood will park across the street from my house in front of the fire hydrant for 20-30 minute stints playing that stupid fucking song over and over. There are no customers after the first 10 minutes. He will sit out there every night making his last sweep somewhere between 10pm and 10:30. How's that for fucking annoying?

I'd like to cut the alderman's pay by $20,000. They could get after-hour gigs as ice cream truck drivers to make up the difference. They could sell ice cream and campaign from the hours of 5-7 everyday. So instead of that music, you'd get some guy or gal giving you a lecture as their trucks rides down your street.

I don't know what song our neighborhood ice cream truck plays, but it drives me insane. Can we get a 24-hour ban on just that one song? I would give all the dope in the world for that truck to switch to The Entertainer.

The ban on ice cream truck music after 7 seems stupid. I used to drive an ice cream truck, and the after-dinner period from 7-9 is one of the busiest. How are people supposed to know you're there (and buy ice cream) if you can't make any noise? And personally, this is coming from someone who listened to "The Entertainer" for 10 hours a day for several years, isn't ice cream truck music sort of pleasant? Just like how it's kind of nice to hear church bells or trains in the distance? What's the big deal? I guess it's always possible that people are selling drugs out of ice cream trucks, but isn't it more likely that the trucks are out at 11pm because they're selling to teenagers and adults? Children aren't the only ones who eat ice cream. And they haven't actually caught anyone selling drugs out of an ice cream truck, have they? It seems totally paranoid.
