2006_09_good.gifAh, it seems fall is here with all its beauty and crisp air. In addition to the indescribable color of the leaves, we look forward to everyone putting away the cargo shorts and sandals and bringing out the scarves and sharp jackets. We should all get out and see the beautiful people before they lock themselves inside underneath down comforters. We have put together a few things for you to do this weekend to get out of the house. Feel free to add more random events in the comments section.

  • Want to see what a $27.5 million dollar makeover looks like? The grand reopening of the Chicago Historical Museum is this weekend, Saturday, 9:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., and Sunday, noon- 5:00 p.m. The event if free, they are expecting large crowds and they recommend reservations.
  • We have a couple of Oktoberfest events for you this weekend. The Sixth Annual Oktoberfest Chicago at Lincoln and Southport kicked off last night. You can stop by for bratwurst and beer from 11:30 a.m. - 9:00 p.m.
  • Haven't had enough bratwurst? Head over to the Wicker Park Oktoberfest, located on Schiller St, between Damen and Hoyne. This one goes on from 5:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m. and is a benefit for the A.N. Pritzker school, $5 suggested donation.
  • Finally, you can head over to Just Good Art, the Hyde Park Art Center's annual benefit auction. The show is from 7:30 p.m. - 10:30 p.m., 5020 S. Cornell, and from the looks of the online preview this will be well worth the $35 cover ($30 for members).

Thanks, Timmy!
