When the $5,000 Segway came out, everyone acted like it was this fantastic new invention. In reality, a similar and much more affordable and healthy invention already existed. It's called a bicycle.

It's ridiculous that tax dollars are being squandered on these things. And all the cops who ride them look like tools. I'm embarassed for them. I saw a cop on State Street on a Segway with those gay chrome rims tell a teenager that skateboarding wasn't allowed downtown - - my first impulse was to spit on him, or ask him why he wasn't segwaying around Madison and Pulaski.

Cops on Segways? What's next?

Once criminals also start using Segways, will we be seeing Seg pursuits on America's Wildest Police Chases?

I can see it now: the spike strips don't work, so the cops try a Pitt maneuver, trying to bump the fleeing Segway into a bus stop. What if the bad guy Seg makes a break for the border? What if there's a hostage riding piggyback?

This could get interesting.
