How about we assume that everyone that eats at McDonald's, KFC and these other $20M+ restaurants knows that when they put a mechanically separated deep fried chicken part in their mouth they are eating trans fat.

Sadly it's not the case. Ever seen a mom on the bus feed her baby cheetos and kool-aid? Go to a McDonald's in a sketchy neighborhood and ask random people who the British Prime Minister is.

Trust me many people don't know what trans fats are or that they're bad for them.

Burke really seems to care a lot about what others are eating. When I heard about this a few months ago, I sent Burke an e-mail every day for a week to tell him what I ingested and how much exercise I got that day. I also copied my own alderman on the e-mails.

Hey may not have read them, but I figured I was doing my part to let him know.

This is his e-mail, if you are interested in doing the same:

I just wish Mr. Burke could win the lottery so he could retire and let someone else become Alderman that actually did there damn job. What a buffoon

If people want to eat their then let them, they are the ones that are going look like Jabba the Hutt at the end of the day. It's not up to the alderman to regulate that. Let him get to work on improving his ward instead of sticking his fingers in so many pies (made with partially hydrogenated soybean oil)

Great. Another alderman carefully avoiding his actual job of governing, and instead banning foodstuffs.

It's not clear to me why we have a City Council at this point.
