If You're Boycotting Macy's It's Working!

Previously when we posted about the Macification of Marshall Field's, many of you were outraged, and many of you said that you wouldn't shop at the store after it was converted to Macy's. We must admit we were skeptical. You know, it's one thing to say stuff when you're feeling emotional and reminiscing on your childhood memories, and it's another thing to act on it and to carry it out in your everyday life. But guess what? It wasn't just lip action!
Macy's has reported slow sales at all of the stores that used to be Marshall Field's. Let that sink in.
Now, predictably, Macy's is optimistically saying that they think sales are down just because we're all in transition and that thing will spring back. After all, the Macy's stores that used to be Bloomingdale's are all posting strong sales numbers. But a lot of Chicagoans, a lot of you guys included, vow never to shop at Macy's. So which is it? Are you shopping at Macy's or boycotting it? Where will you do your holiday shopping?
