Met some Aussies last week while travelling in Vietnam who were growing some 'staches -- apparently they have a similar thing each year called "Movember" for prostate cancer research. http://www.movember.com.au/uk/whatismov/ Cool stuff.

The post-clean-shaven, pre-mustache time is an awkward period in one's life. I stuck with it for a good month once before coming to grips with the fact that my stache would never amount to anything more than an Adam Morrison version, when all I wanted was the Burt Reynolds special. I shaved my head bald for St. Baldrick's earlier this year...I don't know if I can ask my wife to put up with my gruesome porno-stache for Christmas. I'll just donate the fifty bucks.

Matt, I'm thinking you should take a series of photos, like 2/day, as you grow it out, then create a slideshow that has the effect of time elapse photography. But I might have to dispute the lasting irony of the 'stache. It's sort of like mocking a Chicago accent. You fake it long enough, and all the sudden, that's how you talk. Boys, as ironic as you want it to be, you are still wearing mustaches. By definition, irony has a shelf-life.
