Pick up a Good Habit

Logo.jpgThe spirit of giving just got a little trendier. Wicker Park boutique Habit (1951 W. Division St.) is sponsoring an ongoing charity program, and each month, the store will auction one of its outfits on eBay.

Items are donated by the store’s featured designers, and proceeds go to the designer’s charity of choice.

Habit owner Lindsey Boland said the idea came after she got a request to donate an outfit from her store to a local charity event. She asked several of the designers showcased at her store to contribute, and “the response was amazing,” Boland said in a statement. “We received more donations than we needed for the event.”

P1010098.jpgRealizing the potential, Boland decided to create a permanent program, which draws on the generosity of the up-and-coming designers Habit showcases. “Habit is proud of our group of talented, emerging designers,” she stated. “I want to promote them, as well as work with them to give back to our community.”

This month’s outfit is a fuchsia butterfly sleeve dress from Boland’s own line, Superficial. Bidding began yesterday and ends on Nov. 23. Proceeds will be donated to the Chicago Abused Women Coalition.
