To the person who said "Get over it," may I ask what you are doing tomorrow?

Perhaps you are going to travel the globe, stop all wars, and end hunger.

For those of us without super powers, we are going to work to bring back a Chicago cultural institution by furthering the boycott of Macy's.

By the way, in my experience, the people working on the Field's effort are the same people who are giving of themselves in many other causes.

I have found that it is the people who say "Don't you have anything better to do?" who are NOT involved with other efforts, and instead go through life helping themselves get more and more stuff and have more and more fun. Then, after 70 years of this, they die.

Meanwhile, the FieldsFansChicago cause is exactly the sort of local action that makes the world a better place...not just for oneself, but for others, also.

Kudos to you Josh. The people who say "Get over it already" are probably NOT REAL Chicagoans and could care less about our wonderful city. They probably are the same people who take what is handed to them without question, like sheep in a herd. They do what society says and don't stick up for what they believe. If someone says jump, they say "how high!"

I admit the people who say "Get over it" need a reality check with their own life. Thank goodness there are people out there that stick up for what they believe in!

It's the people that stick up for something that go far in life. Sure there are other world issues to worry about James, but this is Chicago.....and Marshall Field's is Chicago, plain and simple. The most distressing fact about the Macy's takeover is that the quality and brand names of products in the stores has become less upscale and more mainstream, like a vanilla box.

James, are you a retail analyst? Do you work for Goldman Sachs? Do you work for the National Association of Chain Shopping Centers? If you aren't in retail, you should keep your BIG MOUTH shut! Many of the top retail analysts in the country are now lowering their outlook on Federated Stock, other analysts are decrying Federated's practices in publications, and marketing professors across the business education community are calling foul on the Macy's/Field's debacle and teaching it in their classes as not what to do in marketing.

You really should think before you speak James.

As long as people are upset that Marshall Fields is gone this will remain a relevant story. The real whiners are the ones who can't stop repeating "Get over it already," like some bitchy mantra.I personally hope this story never goes away. Because Macy's sucks.

can everyone who's upset about the whole macy's thing just give it up already? your story has become quite tiresome.
what next, will they dress up as madonna circa 1997 out on state street and sing 'this used to be my playground'?
