their ones in logan square were up until right about christmas, then they were gone. so sad. those trees looked cold.

Thanks, Leigh! Great to know. I do hope they -- or some other people -- will do some more projects next year. They were such a lovely find, and it would be great to find such random suprises in neighborhoods all over the city.

These trees were created as part of the Lakeview East 44/46 project during Chicago Artists Month in October 2006. It was done as a "Graknitti" workshop and performance conducted by a woman from Norway, Ingar Lena Gaasemyr along with the citizens of Chicago as a community knitting project. She calls them "knitting cosies" for the street trees. She had an installation in Logan Square during October as well created by local residents.
