Ctrl - Alt - Rock Version 2.0: The Lineup!

By Scott Smith in Arts & Entertainment on Jan 12, 2007 7:53PM

We teased you earlier this week about our next Ctrl – Alt – Rock show. While we’re not quite ready to totally give it up, we’re going to let you cop a cheap feel with news on our lineup!

2007_01_car2.JPGIf you remember last year’s packed event at Schuba’s, you’ll know that this show is all about showcasing up-and-coming bands that we love. This year, we launch Version 2.0 with a bigger venue, more bands, more rock and a cheaper cover. To wit:

Chicagoist and Tankboy Productions present:

CTRL - ALT - ROCK v. 2.0

with
The Reptoids
The Ladies & Gentlemen
Farewell Captain
The Passerines
DJ Tankboy and other Chicagoist DJs

Thursday, February 8, at Double Door
(1572 N. Milwaukee)

Doors: 8 p.m.
Show: 9 p.m.
$7 cover at the door / $5 with comp ticket

2007_01_tankboyjesus.jpgWe’ve written several times about The Reptoids and their mix of hard rock, metal, punk and dirty bizness. They will belt you around the mouth and mouth you around the belt (metaphorically speaking). The Ladies and Gentlemen’s recent album was one of this year’s notable local releases, and we’re depending on them to turn the Double Door into a sexed-up dance party. Farewell Captain describe themselves as “a drunken Crazy Horse playing Teenage Fanclub songs” and that’s as good as any way to describe their hardscrabble sound that’ll tear you up and put you back together again. Finally, The Passerines are an oasis of indie pop adorableness in the otherwise staid Hyde Park confines.

Dear Lord, this show is going to be awesome as hell.

Keep watching the site for features on the bands along with more details and surprises, including how to get your hands on those dirt-cheap comp tix.
