I hope the woman who was hit recovers quickly. Taxi drivers are consistently the worst people on the road.
Yeah, I've had some of my worst experiences in cabs. That intersection is also pretty dangerous.
I suspect cell phones are the reason for drivers being more distracted.

Magilla Gorilla (I just wanted to type that), I agree there are some morons out there, but I've definitely had my share of awesome drivers too. I know in my neighborhood at least they have to put up with a lot of drunken assholes.
I agree, all cab drivers aren't bad. I've had some great ones, but also some terrible ones. Nevertheless, I hope they catch the guy and put him in jail. Too many people drive dangerously and don't look for pedestrians - which is inexcusable.
Remember that teenage girl in the SUV who hit that guy on the bike a while back?
Considering most of the taxi drivers in this town aren't exactly wasp-y American born folk, it'd be interesting if they catch this guy and treat him as lightly as they did that girl.
