Yes, all hail the Brown Elephant. They're awesome, and actually a fun place to shop. The one mentioned by Sarah on Milwaukee seems to go out of their way to be a part of the community.

And again, thanks for this post. I always wondered if those people were real because they always packed so many loaded "buzzwords" (Gaia Earth Action Peace Global Environment Squad Go!) that I thought they were almost a parody of themselves.

I have walked into the Brown Elephant store on Milwaukee with a bag of clothes and been greeted with a huge smile. They gladly accepted my donation and let me just leave the bag and walk out without any fuss.

If you're gay or into the idea of gays being equal, you might want to stay away from the notoriously anti-gay Salvation Army and opt for Howard Brown instead.

Thank you for researching those GAIA boxes! I always felt like there was something shady about them. Don't forget the Brown Elephant, where proceeds go toward Howard Brown Health Center!

Thanks for that,
I've always wondered what that organization was about (but not enough to try to find out). I've gotta get rid of a quite a load or stuff soon so looks like I'll skip them.
