In Maureen Ryan’s blog yesterday, she asks whether 24’s newest President, Wayne Palmer, is based on Obama.
24’s executive producer answers and agrees there are similarities, but basically says no, not really. And we have to agree — it’s an interesting question to ask, but Wayne Palmer has been playing in the 24 game before we even knew who Barack was. He’s been traipsing behind his brother for years; giving somewhat suspicious advice and lingering in the background. We see Barack (in our idealistic dreams) as more of David Palmer anyway, resolute in his decisions, caring for the people, and always trusting Jack. Seriously Wayne, why would you not believe Jack knows the true info? Barack would trust Jack. We can hear it now “Look … Obama, we don’t have a lot of time”.
The bigger question, because we ask the tough ones, is: do you think Barack is the son of a murdered vampire slayer? Because now that would just be too weird.

Weekend Diversion: Night Of The Ponies

"Do you think Barack is the son of a murdered vampire slayer? Because now that would just be too weird."
Margaret, I love you.
it really bugs me that wayne palmer is president now. i never liked him.
Wayne Palmer is certainly not the Barack Obama of "24". Doesn't anyone who watches the show regularly remember all the shady shit he was doing
in season 3? The only reason he's sitting in the White House today on that show is because anyone with anything incriminating on him is dead,
and there was probably a groundswell of emotional support for his candidacy due to his brother's assassination (in the elapsed time between last season and now). So, he's probably the
Hillary Clinton of "24".
And I watch that show way too much.
"So, he's probably the Hillary Clinton of "24"."
Not probably. Chuck, I love you.
Does it bother anyone else that 24 is taking place at least 3 and a half years in our future? If you accept the fact that the first season took place when it was being shown, and then followed all the "eighteen months later"'s and whatnot, you'd wind up around 2010 or 2011 depending on when you started. This blows my mind. Where are the flying cars? The rayguns?
And Jack Bauer would never called President Barack Obama "Obama". He would say "Mr. President".
And where the hell was the Silent Clock for the last episode. It was deserved.
ha, the silent clock. brings back sad memories of edgar suffocating.
They only use the silent clock after they've killed off a central character... and yeah, Curtis was a shocker, but it honestly didn't sadden me all that much.
But Edgar deserved it? Edgar never saved Jack's ass before.
