Are we the only ones who think it's a little nutty to devote this much screen real estate to the Super Bowl countdown when it's still almost a week away? We noticed ABC CBS was doing this yesterday and were annoyed. Grr. When the Super Bowl is a day away, or hours away, give us a countdown, but a week out is a little much.
One of Chicagoist's sisters told us she saw a countdown already yesterday at a Starbucks, of all places, on Clark/Dickens. Where else have you seen countdowns popping up?

Weekend Diversion: Night Of The Ponies

Perfect screencap
I would love it is bad choices were only on one network. The countdown is on CBS 2. The guys with the Super Bowl.
awwww #*@*&$&%. you are totally right. It was CBS.. which, I guess gives it more significance, but still... a week out.
FWIW, the HD version of CBS didn't have the countdown (at least not during Cold Case).
I would like to note that I was not watching Cold Case, it was my boyfriend, I swear!
That's what that thing in corner is? I guess I sit too far from the tv to tell. I hope nothing important happens in that section of the screen.
Is CBS doing the countdown in other markets, or just Chicago & Indy?
[Insert perfunctory Tank Johnson joke here.]
Sigh.
A whole week of pop-in countdown? Some network executive thought this was a good idea?
Who in Chicago doesn't know about the Super Bowl at this point?
