If you keep up with your "Free Tibet" news, you may be glad to hear that the Dalai Lama is going to visit Chicago.
His visit, scheduled for May 6, will be the first since 1999. He'll be doing a public speech in Millennium Park and is expected to do a public teaching session at the Harris Theater.
Aside from that, he will probably generate a lot of stories and interest in the "Free Tibet" movement, and he will probably provide a lot of Chicagoans with a moment to reflect on how absolutely disgusting the civil rights violations are that still continue in the country to this day. Even Rolling Stone got in on the free Tibet action recently — wonder what DeRogatis thinks they'd rate China for that one. Anyway, it looks like the events will be ticketed, but we will start making our welcome signs now.

Weekend Diversion: Night Of The Ponies

Big hitter, the Lama... Long.
If you want to get involved NOW! Tibetan Uprising Day is Saturday, March 10th. Tibetans and their supporters from around the Midwest will be at the Chinese Consulate to remind the world that the tens of thousands of Tibetans who died protecting the Dalai Lama on March 10 1959, and the million-plus Tibetans who have died since, have not been forgotten.
