Sparky, that was the best Butera I'd ever shopped in. One month after I moved into the neighborhood, the Butera was gone. I've only been in the Staples just to pass around a few mean glares.

There was supposed to be a Trader Joe's at Granville & Broadway, but now we've been told it will be a Staples! Maybe Joe's will take over the wretched, soon to be closed Dominick's on Ridge!

How about Uptown? I was devastated when my Butera/Clark Market was gone, and was replaced by Staples. Staples in Uptown? Did anyone do the market research?

Really would love a new store up in Edgewater. two jewels and a dominic's are busy, but not very exciting. lots of people live up here too.

I think it is insane to cram so many grocery stores into one small area of town when other parts of the city have nothing.

Ah I forgot about The Bluebird, a gem in a sea of shit. This part of town is just like giant surburban mall but it has been for many years.

The North/Clybourn area is literally being whitewashed. This area is already well-served by upscale grocers. I'm disappointed in the Y for selling New City. In addition to being an affordable gym it served as a neighborhood anchor. The New City Y needed improvements but with the right leadership it could have continued to serve area residents of all income levels. The incredible Bluebird Lounge was replaced by the arrogant, sterilized Copa, and I don't see Weed's lasting much longer. The mall at North/Sheffield has the same stores you find in any suburb. Soon there will be nothing novel or interesting near North/Clybourn.
