Briggs was offered a very competitive contract last summer and he turned it down. i don't like siding with a Chicago sports owner, it makes me feel very dirty. that being said, i'm siding with the McCaskey's here.

Briggs is being a total ass here, but the one thing people should keep in mind about the money is that if Briggs doesn't get it, it just ends up in the McCaskey family's pocket.

I'm sick of reading stories about athletes that hit them for wanting a bigger slice of what they produced. Sports owners are spoiled, monopolistic cretins who suck off taxpayer dollars to provide for their facilities, but I guess that's better than being a talented, extremely hardworking professional that people want to pay to see.

All power to Briggs, I say, even if he's out of line here and trying to renege. I seem to remember the McCaskey family using similar threats when they wanted a new stadium.

I kinda wish they can get a deal done with the Redskins (Ew, I feel dirty everytime I use that word... easily the most casual use of racism in pop culture) swapping draft picks (With the Bears drafting sixth overall) and maybe getting a sixth or seventh rounder for good measure.

Washington is a soft touch to rip off from (re: Every contract they've given out since Snyder took over) and I have a feeling Briggs will fade a little without the Tampa 2 or Urlacher around him.

They should stick the franchise tag on him next year - and in 2009 just as a final bitch slap.
